Reframing Narratives Around “Detransition"

In this session, Dr. Kade Goepferd, a pediatrician who founded the Children's Minnesota Gender Health Program in 2019, will discuss harmful and misleading narratives that are told in the media, politics and public about transgender youth and their healthcare. Starting with applying a developmental and culturally broader lens to the topic of "detransition", and how overrepresentation of these stories and associated inaccurate data harms trans youth, Dr. Goepferd will also discuss the harmful language and misleading "facts" that are commonly used to justify removing access to healthcare for trasngender youth.
